History of Lions Clubs International
Lions Club International was founded in Chicago, Illinois in the year 1917 by insurance agent Melvin Jones. Lions are recognized for their services to the blind, the visually impaired, and other charitable causes such as diabetic awareness for children. This service began when American author and lecturer Helen Keller, deaf and blind since infancy, challenged the Lions at the 1925 International Convention to become her “Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness.” Lions International is both non-political and non-sect-Arian. It is the world’s largest service organization.

Poetry
When I First Looked Into Your Eyes
When first I looked into your eyes
each breath became a thousand sighs.
My heart drummed out a thunder beat
I glowed with joy from head to feet.
The hand of love had touched my soul,
as the bell of destiny began to toll.
The tide of love began to rise,
the world was filled with summer skies.
My sodden clouds of cold and grey
glowed with gold, then wisped away.
A brilliant rainbow arched across,
as waves of love began to toss.
The air was filled with lovebird cries,
when I first looked into your eyes.
When I first looked into your eyes,
all time and space were paralyzed
And in that instant, I was shown
a universe I had never known.
I dwell there still, in Paradise,
when I look into your eyes.
Friends
There's nothing as nice as someone who shares,
your laughter, your secrets, your wishes and cares,
someone who's there through your good times and tears,
who stays by your side as your friend through the years
FRIENDS
Now we've been friends
For quite a while
Whenever I had a problem
You made me smile
Whenever I was down
You helped me to stand
You gave only love
With no demands
You were there for me
Through thick and through thin
Through all of the trouble
I've gotten myself in
You'd pick me back up
Whenever I'd fall
And no matter how late
You'd always answer my call
And through all this time
You never asked me for a thing
Only love to my heart
Did you bring
But now I think
It's time to repay
You for all the things
You've done along the way
For every smile
That you've brought out in me
I'll try to make you happy
For eternity
For every time
That you helped me to stand
I'll give you my all
With no demands
And for all the times
You gave me your heart
I'll give you mine
And promise to never part
The Gift Of Knowing You
There are gifts of many treasures
For both the young and old,
From the tiniest little trinkets
To great boxes filled with gold.
But, put them all together
And they could not stand in lieu,
Of the greatest gift of all
The gift of knowing you.
When your times are filled with troubles
Sadness, grief, or even doubt,
When all those things you planned on
Just aren't turning out.
Just turn and look behind you
From the place at which you stand,
And look for me through the shadows
And reach out for my hand.
I will lift from you your burden
And cry for you your tears,
Bear the pain of all your sorrows
Though it may be for a thousand years.
For in the end I would be happy
To have helped you start anew,
It's a small price to pay
I was sort of hoping,
That you would come along,
Like the answer to a prayer,
And the music to a song.
Like the kind of thing that happens,
At a special place and time,
That will change our lives forever,
Like a fantasy of mine.
The fantasy was there before,
I ever knew your name,
And now that I have found you,
We will never be the same.
So, pardon, if I look at you,
Forgive me if I stare,
At the fantasy I knew before,
I saw you standing there.
For I was always hoping,
That you would come along,
Like the answer to a prayer,
And the music to a song
Keeper Of My Dreams
When you're not here to share my days and nights
My life is so incomplete
For you are my heart, my soul
The `oneness' I had known to seek
Without you I merely exist from day to day
With you I know that I will find
All that I have been searching for
My completeness, my eternal peace of mind
You are the keeper of my dreams
The man who holds my heart in his hands
The one I want to spend my life with
The one with whom I will always stand
Stand beside through thick and thin
Through all that life will throw our way
Knowing that this special love we share
Will guide us, each and every day
This journey was started long ago
Before this time and place
The journey of completeness
As two hearts and souls embrace
Forever is what I want with you
For the search is at an end
Our hearts have found each other
As lovers, as soul-mates, as friends
PLEASE LISTEN
I saw the way you looked at me
And it made me want to cry
Just because I don't have what you have
Doesn't make you better than I
I no longer have a house to call my own
I have been left out here all alone
Don't turn away
Please listen to what I say
I was once like you
With a family and a home
But as time went by
I lost everything I owned
Just because you have everything now
And your life seems okay
It doesn't mean it will always be that way
So don't be so quick
to prejudge what you don't understand
If you were in my position
I would give you work if not a hand
Please listen to what I have said
And consider how I feel
And then please give e some work
So I can buy myself a meal
For Those Lost In 9/11
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you,
And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own,
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding
Are impossible for me
I cannot build a mountain,
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best,
A friend who's always there
For the gift of knowing you
A Lover's Prayer
Let me awake with you in my arms,
and I wake up the happiest of men.
Let your face be the first I see each day,
and the last I see when my day ends.
Let me be all that you want me to be,
to answer each question that you ask.
Let my hands and my will be at your call,
to perform each sweet and loving task.
Let me be always at your side, my love,
in this world of floods and droughts.
Let your voice be the one I hear most,
in this world of whispers and shouts.
And let me love you now and forever,
wherever the night and day leads us to,
so that far beyond mere stars or sun,
past time itself, I'll still be loving you.
The Joy of Christmas
Christmas arrives across the globe
Rejoicing begins in Heaven above
Humans, angels, leave no space
Melody in the air, dancing in grace
Ho, ho, ho Santa appears
Merriment surrounds, no room for tears
No place for solitude, clamour reigns
Space is choked with pleasure and gains
Here in this fun, I've lost my soul
In the desert wastes of my heart in some hole
Burning with thirst, but the spring is dry
"I am a stranger to myself", I hear it cry
